The Guidance Department serves the students, teachers, and parents of Brother André. Counsellors conduct appointments, visit classrooms, and teach the Careers Studies Course (Grade 10), to inform students about useful study skills, post-secondary education and careers. Counsellors also assist students in making successful transitions from elementary to secondary school and on to post-secondary institutions and the world of work.

Through a variety of approaches, the counsellors provide opportunities for students to acquire the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to: know and appreciate themselves, relate effectively to others, develop appropriate educational goals and plans, and to explore the ever-changing variety of career paths.

The counsellor's role is to counsel and to help, not to decide for students. Students are encouraged to make use of various planning tools in order to make informed decisions about their pathways. Counsellors also provide referrals, and liaison with community social service agencies when necessary. Parents are welcom and encouraged to phone and make appointments to see counsellors about any concern that they may have regarding their son or daughter's progress.
